New HST Legislation to take effect July 1st

Legislation to enact the harmonized sales tax (HST) has been passed by the Governments of Canada and Ontario. As of July 1, 2010 the HST will be applied on most supplies of goods and services made in Ontario at a rate of 13%, consisting of the 5% federal portion and an 8% provincial portion.

 

All orders placed prior to July 1, 2010 but delivered and invoiced after that date will be subject to HST.  All merchandise returns processed on July 1st or later for orders billed prior to this date will be refunded based on the applicable taxes at the time the order was originally billed.

 

Dye & Durham (Basics) is a distributor of office products.  As a distributor under the new HST system we will be charged the same amount of tax to purchase the products we sell to our customers and will be eligible for the same amount of tax rebates as under the GST/PST system.  The companies that manufacture the products we sell will be receiving tax reductions on the raw materials they purchase to manufacture their products.  Cost savings to Dye & Durham (Basics) will only occur if these manufacturers choose to reduce their prices to us.  We are not anticipating these types of price reductions from our suppliers and as such we would like to advise our customers that we anticipate that the prices we charge for office products will remain the same.

At this time, as Dye & Durham’s staff begin transitioning existing and ongoing graphics sales to Magnum Fine Commercial Printing Limited, your local area sales representatives will continue to be available to offer solutions for all your print needs, and can be reached via current telephone, email or fax contacts.

Additionally, Al Monteath, Vice President of D&D Graphics, will also be moving to Magnum Fine Commercial Printing Limited as Vice President of Business Development.

Policies

Announcement:

As of September 1st, 2008 Dye & Durham will be implementing a fuel surcharge. This rate will be adjusted according to the average price of regular unleaded gas established by MJ Ervin & Associates*. This is a necessary measure to offset the recent, unprecedented increases in the cost of fuel. On the 15th of every month, Dye & Durham will review the average weekly fuel price for the preceding four weeks to determine the fuel surcharge which takes effect on the first Monday of the following month and will be charged based on the price ranges indicated below. In order to reduce the effects of this increase on your business we recommend combining orders that you would have submitted individually in the past or reducing the number of deliveries per week - this is also an excellent way of assisting in reducing the environmental effects of delivery fleets and improving our overall carbon footprint.

PAYMENT TERMS

A credit application must be completed and approved to open an account. If you do not have an account, payment may be made by major credit card.

 

TERMS

Terms are net 30 days from date of invoice for approved account customers. Overdue accounts are subject to a late payment charge. We reserve the right to withhold shipments to accounts that do not meet payment terms.

 

DAMAGED GOODS

In the case of a damaged shipment, make note of the discrepancy on the bill of lading. Keep the parcel's packaging for inspection where there is concealed damage. Contact our Customer Care Department to arrange for return of the damaged item(s).

 

PRODUCT CHANGES, SUBSTITUTIONS & ERRORS

All descriptions and illustrations in this catalogue are based on the best information available at the time of publication. DELIVERY

Daily truck deliveries are made in Toronto, Mississauga, Hamilton and surrounding areas. Out of Town shipments are sent within

24 hours. Shipping & handling charges may apply and are based upon distance traveled and size and number of parcels. Additional fuel surcharges may apply. Visit dyedurham.ca for detailed shipping information. Rush Orders are subject to additional charges.

 

OFFICE FURNITURE

Furniture orders may take 4-6 weeks and are subject to shipping fees. Installation fees may also apply. Furniture returns are subject to a 35% restocking charge plus return freight.

 

ACCURACY OF THIRD PARTY INFORMATION

Due to errors or incomplete information that may be found in government or third party records, Dye & Durham cannot guarantee the accuracy of such records. Dye & Durham will not be responsible for any loss or damage arising from such errors or incomplete information.

 

RETURNED MERCHANDISE AUTHORIZATION

Goods purchased from Dye & Durham will be considered for return/credit under the following conditions:

1. Advise us of the item(s) being returned within 5 days of receiving it. The Customer Care Department must be contacted

(905-762-7100 or 1-888-393-3874) to obtain a Return

Merchandise Authorization Number (RMA#). Our drivers cannot accept returns unless we have been advised so that they will have the appropriate paperwork in hand.

2. Items must be returned within 30 days of purchase.

3. Items must be in resalable condition, and in the original package or carton. It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure the goods are packaged appropriately in an outer carton for transportation back to Dye & Durham.

4. The RMA # must be written on the outer carton for easy identification.

5. The reason for requesting a credit should be included with each returned item.

Restocking fees may apply.

Items returned after 30 days are subject to a 15% restocking charge plus return freight.

No returns will be accepted without the proper RMA.

 

THE FOLLOWING ITEMS ARE NON RETURNABLE:

• Law Forms

• Software

• Broken seal or opened packaging for laser & ink cartridges

• Custom orders i.e. stamps, rolling catalogue cases, custom indexes, custom file folders, etc.
