SUSTAINABILITY INITIATIVES AT DYE & DURHAM

WHAT ARE WE DOING?

• Green Products
Dye & Durham, as a dealer member of the BASICS buying group, has actively pursued a green initiative for a number of years. We have launched the Environmentally Preferred Products (EPP) program that identifies and encourages the use of products providing an environmental benefit. This includes products that are recyclable, reduce the amount of waste created or are reusable. Products with the EPP logo can be found under the Green Products on our Office Products website dyedurhambasics.ca. The range of environmentally friendly products has grown over the last five years and is now approaching almost a thousand items.

• Battery/Toner Recycling Program
We make it easy for customers to recycle used ink and toner cartridges as well as batteries. Talk to a customer care representative to take advantage of this program.

• Internal Office Waste Management
All of our employees participate in Blue bin recycling programs. We have integrated a full recycling program for plastics, cans and bottles. Dye & Durham encourages their employees to conserve energy by turning off their computers and lights as they leave. The thermostat is set to the temperature recommended by Toronto Hydro to become more energy efficient. We have also provided every employee with re-usable ceramic mugs and have eliminated purchasing styrofoam cups for internal use.

Dye & Durham helps you decrease deliveries and reduce paperwork by offering you everything you need for your office from a single vendor. For everything from office supplies and furniture to cleaning, kitchen and break room, Dye & Durham has what you need.

• Switch to Summary Billing
One summarized invoice and report at month’s end details all of your purchases for the month. This can be delivered electronically straight to your inbox, helping to reduce paper.

• Reduce order frequency
Changing from frequent small orders to less frequent larger orders not only reduces the amount of packaging required but also minimizes truck deliveries helping to reduce our carbon footprint.

• Shop online
Not only is shopping online more convenient for you, but it also reduces considerably the amount of paper consumed. All of our specials, flyers and news are also available online, enabling you to choose a paper free option.
